Alexander was born into a poor family on the western border of Meave, along with several more brothers and sisters. During the war, his home was burned and his family displaced. Most of his siblings died before adulthood. Others were sold to wealthy houses who owned slaves, as his parents saw no other way for them to survive.
Alexander ran away and became a beggar and thief. This is where he originally cultivated his talent for espionage.
He was taken in as a child by the Rose Party, a group who worships the dead god, Contri. They recognized the potential for his skills, as well as his strength of will and survival instinct. Alexander’s personal belief in Contri is that through his power, he can control his destiny; something that he was unable to do as a helpless child on the street. This is where he learned the supernatural abilities to compliment his physical prowess.
Despite his affiliation with the Rose Party, staunch objectors to the war with Amonun, Alexander was forced by royal forces as a teenager into the army. He did well there, and was able to survive a number of bloody battles. His career came to an end when he was charged with witchcraft and sentenced to death. He was able to escape, but not before being branded with the mark of a witch—the tattoo of a black triangle on his forehead.
After that experience, his enthusiasm for the Rose Party was stronger than before. He rose through the ranks and became aware of a rumored awakening of Contri through the king of Meave and his offspring. The Rose Party then assigned him to the duty of investigating Princess Lavender. This is when Alexander enlisted Felicia’s help, using connections of the Rose Party to have Felicia hired as a maid, and use him as an informant.
The goal of Alexander’s mission is to determine whether part of Contri’s existence has transferred to Lavender, and then if so, to find a means of drawing that power out of her.
