It’s June 1st and I have posted this month’s illustration to my Patreon. It’s a picture of Lavender I did in a painting rendered style, so it’s super shiny and I had some fun experimenting with it.
It’s month 4 of our patreon, and it has been going pretty well. Patreon now has 4 illustrations and 3 wallpapers in it. The 4th wallpaper will be added later this month. Remember, you only have to pay $1 to get access to these rewards. Each month you get more stuff.
As of writing this, our total is $110 per month with 12 people contributing. That’s really cool, and it’s already helping me catch up with the debt I have been shouldering from the Kickstarter of last year, which went over-budget. I have roughly 10 of those packages still to ship by the way, and plan on doing that later this month. I’ll be very relieved when it’s finally done, as I know these last few people must be very anxious to get their products.
The member’s area has gotten quite a few updates in the last month as well, including full character turn-around sheets for Alexander and Antony, and a complete “bonus” sheet with two of Lavender’s lesser seen costumes. I’ve also added a character portrait of Alexander, and the illustrations and wallpapers that overlap with the Patreon downloads as well.
You can now read buffer pages as they are completed on the member’s area. Buffer may only be 1-2 pages at a time, but I hope to expand that in the next few months to make advanced reading into a regular part of the members site.
I’ll be at A-kon 2014 this weekend. If you’re attending, please come visit me in the Artist Alley.
I’m happy to announce that I’ll be participating in A-kon again this year. If you’re planning to go, please come see me in Artist Alley and check out my panels on comic book art and coloring techniques. We’ll also have a Filthy Figments panel including myself, Jennie Breeden, and Tessa Woodis.
Just wanted to announce that I’m working on a project that is called Traveler’s Joy. It’s a one-shot story about a girl who runs an inn, and hosts a number of travelers. It is told through one illustration and some accompanying text per update.
“The Traveler’s Joy. It was once the home of a noble. Now my father and I run the building as an inn.”
I have been wanting to practice art and scenery lately, and so I’m doing this story which is told through illustration rather than comic pages. Right now it is hosted exclusively on my tumblr. If you don’t have tumblr or don’t want to follow my personal posts, you can check out only the related posts at the tag for The Traveler’s Joy.
The updates are not on a specific schedule right now, just whenever I finish the current illustration it goes up.
Once it’s done, I’ll set up a proper website for it. It’s just something I’m doing for fun, but thought you guys might enjoy it.
A number of people told me I should get a Patreon, so I’m going to give it a shot!
So I did a Kickstarter last year, and while it was successful, it put me into some debt and I still haven’t managed to ship all the rewards. This Patreon will start out just trying to help me recover some of those debts, send people the stuff that I owe, and alleviate some of the financial distress I am in. That’ll help me continue making some cool comics!
In the future I definitely want to expand to more project goals, like even more pages per month.
Member’s area AND Patreon?A lot of my regulars are already signed up for the member’s area, and that’s perfectly fine! Either of them is a great way to help me out. The major difference is that my member’s area only takes PayPal, while Patreon can take a number of credit cards. So, it simply gives people the option to pay differently. A month-to-month membership is included with patrons of $7 or more per month, and stacks with some other rewards. So while a membership through the site alone is cheaper, you have the option of paying more and getting more rewards with Patreon.
Rewards and StuffYou can check out the rewards on the Patreon page, but here’s a quick wrap-up of what’s available right now.
