I’m happy to announce that I’ll be participating in A-kon again this year. If you’re planning to go, please come see me in Artist Alley and check out my panels on comic book art and coloring techniques. We’ll also have a Filthy Figments panel including myself, Jennie Breeden, and Tessa Woodis.
Just wanted to announce that I’m working on a project that is called Traveler’s Joy. It’s a one-shot story about a girl who runs an inn, and hosts a number of travelers. It is told through one illustration and some accompanying text per update.
“The Traveler’s Joy. It was once the home of a noble. Now my father and I run the building as an inn.”
I have been wanting to practice art and scenery lately, and so I’m doing this story which is told through illustration rather than comic pages. Right now it is hosted exclusively on my tumblr. If you don’t have tumblr or don’t want to follow my personal posts, you can check out only the related posts at the tag for The Traveler’s Joy.
The updates are not on a specific schedule right now, just whenever I finish the current illustration it goes up.
Once it’s done, I’ll set up a proper website for it. It’s just something I’m doing for fun, but thought you guys might enjoy it.
A number of people told me I should get a Patreon, so I’m going to give it a shot!
So I did a Kickstarter last year, and while it was successful, it put me into some debt and I still haven’t managed to ship all the rewards. This Patreon will start out just trying to help me recover some of those debts, send people the stuff that I owe, and alleviate some of the financial distress I am in. That’ll help me continue making some cool comics!
In the future I definitely want to expand to more project goals, like even more pages per month.
Member’s area AND Patreon?A lot of my regulars are already signed up for the member’s area, and that’s perfectly fine! Either of them is a great way to help me out. The major difference is that my member’s area only takes PayPal, while Patreon can take a number of credit cards. So, it simply gives people the option to pay differently. A month-to-month membership is included with patrons of $7 or more per month, and stacks with some other rewards. So while a membership through the site alone is cheaper, you have the option of paying more and getting more rewards with Patreon.
Rewards and StuffYou can check out the rewards on the Patreon page, but here’s a quick wrap-up of what’s available right now.
- $1 get the monthly wallpaper
- $7 get the above; plus get a month’s membership to our Member’s Area.
- $20 get the above; plus a print of the month
- $30 get the above, plus a unique sketch by GlanceReviver (aka me)
- $60 get the above, plus an original inked page from Lavender Legend Ch.1
There or almost there, depending on what you count as a page.
The pages are sorted in my folders by page number. After I draft the pages, I may delete or add an additional page, which results in it having a name like 298-B. I eventually want to go back and rename everything according to chapter and page, but it is 300+ pages to edit and may take some time.
Including all four chapter title inserts, it is currently at page 302. Sorry that’s so confusing, haha.
Another news bit; I’m trying to get the print and digital download editions for sale through IndyPlanet. Right now, the print books are available but I’m waiting for the digital download option to show up.
The Member’s Area now has all the current pages up in high definition, and so the next step will be to start working on advance reading. Basically my plan is to start uploading the month’s pages in one big batch to the member’s site. I’d really love to do 10 pages a month, but I know I have a habit of over-burdening myself, so I’ll have to get a few other projects cleared first before I try to do that.
But anyway yeah, please check out these two avenues of supporting Lavender Legend, or if you want to just use the paypal thing and donate, I definitely appreciate that as well.
